Effective September 24, 2019

By Direction of Superintendent Marvin Connelly, Jr.:

Students Must Wear:

  • Pants/jeans or the equivalent (for example, a skirt, sweatpants, leggings, a dress or shorts).  All shorts, skirts or dresses must reach at least mid-way between the thigh and waist.
  • Shoes

Students May Wear:

  • Religious headwear
  • Hoodie sweatshirts (wearing the hood over the head is not allowed)
  • Fitted pants, including opaque leggings, yoga pants and “skinny jeans” as long as the shirt entirely covers the buttocks
  • Ripped jeans, as long as the rip is at  least midway between thigh and waist
  • Athletic attire

Students Cannot Wear:

  • Clothes with violent language or images
  • Images or language depicting drugs or alcohol (or any illegal item or activity)
  • Hate speech, profanity, pornography
  • Images or language that creates a hostile or intimidating environment based on any protected class or consistently marginalized groups
  • Any clothing that reveals visible undergarments
  • Swimsuits
  • Accessories that could be considered dangerous or could be used as a weapon
  • Hats (except as a religious observance)
  • Pajamas or bedroom shoes

As noted above, MWMS and all CCS schools will make any necessary religious accommodations for any type of headgear or head coverings otherwise restricted or prohibited by this dress code.

No student will receive Out of School Suspension based solely upon violation of an existing school dress code.
