As the principal of Mac Williams Middle School, I am thrilled to welcome you to our wonderful school community! Our mission, in collaboration with the community, is to provide a safe, caring, and rigorous learning environment that will enable successful outcomes in all aspects of each student’s development.

At Mac Williams, we believe in fostering a love for learning and empowering our students to reach their full potential. Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to inspiring curiosity, encouraging creativity, and promoting critical thinking skills. We offer a wide range of programs and extracurricular activities designed to meet the diverse interests and needs of our students.

Our 6th Grade Assistant Principal

Mrs. Amber Holland

Educational Background: I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a BA in Communication Studies and English with a concentration in Professional Writing.  I obtained my teaching certification in Middle Grades Language Arts (6-9) and English (9-12) through the University of North Carolina at Pembroke’s Licensure program.  Following this, I earned my National Board Certification in English Language Arts Early Adolescence. I later returned to UNCP and received my Masters in School Administration. 

Educational Philosophy: Every student and educator has the potential to learn and the opportunity to grow in their capacity. We must constantly reflect on our individual strengths and areas of improvement so that we can strive to be the best version of ourselves.

Leadership Mission: A positive climate and culture must be built and maintained by fostering supportive relationships among educators, students, parents, and community members to ensure the success of our students and the school through learner-focused collaboration that is essential to inspiring, challenging, and empowering teaching and learning in and out of the classroom.

Leadership Vision: High expectations, consideration of challenges, and reflection of practices ensure inclusive and equitable student learning remains at the forefront of collaborative decision-making.

Our 7th Grade Assistant Principal

Mrs. Jacqueline Newman

Educational Background:  I graduated from Alma College in Alma, Michigan with a BA degree in Education and minors in English and Social Studies. Later, I received my masters in Executive Leadership and Administration from Gardner-Webb University.

Educational Philosophy: The education of our future leaders is a joint effort between the school and the community. This partnership needs to be strong and consistent. We must support our students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Leadership Mission: I want all teachers, staff, and students to feel loved and appreciated for their talents. I want all of them to feel valued and understood.

Leadership Vision: Mac Williams Middle School values teachers, staff, students, and it’s community. It is a safe place to work and learn. Mac Williams is a place where everyone can have a sense of belonging.

Our 8th Grade Assistant Principal

Mr. Stephen Myles

Educational Background: I hold a diverse educational background that spans business and technology, education, and leadership. I earned a BS in Business Administration and MIS from Fayetteville State University. Building upon this, I obtained my teaching license from East Carolina University. After recognizing the importance of leadership in education, I pursued a Masters in Executive Leadership from Gardner Webb University.

Educational Philosophy: I believe in cultivating a student's intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity. Education should empower students to become lifelong learners, capable of adapting to a rapidly changing world. I am particularly passionate about technology, and I take great satisfaction in helping students learn new technical skills that will be valuable in their future careers.

Leadership Mission: My leadership mission is to inspire positive change through empowerment and collaboration. By fostering an environment of trust and open communication, I aim to enable individuals to reach their full potential. Through visionary guidance and a willingness to learn, I seek to lead by example, driving innovation and growth while nurturing a culture of respect and shared achievement.

Leadership Vision: By championing open communication, growth, and a culture of continuous learning, I aim to lead with integrity, steering our path toward a future where every challenge is met with resilience, and every success is celebrated together.
